On Broadway: Barnaby Castle Update

This past weekend, the WBNA (West Broadway Neighborhood Association) hosted a house tour, and we had the opportunity to see the interiors of a number of homes of interest, including Barnaby Castle.  Several people who read my previous post on the Barnaby Castle, and its interesting history, inquired about the house, and about what's happening with the renovation, so here's an update.

The house is currently undergoing renovation. The first floor rooms will be finished as an elegant event rental space for events up to 100 people.

The second floor will contain two apartments. The third floor will contain one apartment, which will eventually be occupied by the building's owner, though I believe it will be rented on the market in the short term.

The second floor is in pretty good shape--kitchen plumbing/wiring and bathrooms have been installed. We did not see the third floor.

The first floor still needs a lot of work--a lot of prep has been done (e.g. fitting drywall into the damaged plaster spots) but there is still a lot of work to do.

Below are some first floor photos.

It's great to see this beautiful old gem undergoing renovation!!

  1. Hi SantaFeKate,
I'm glad you got to tour the house (and sneak in a few pics ;-) ). Perhaps I met you during the tour as I was guiding guests through the home. I will be occupying the second floor 2 bedroom unit (my living room is pictured above) in addition to managing the first floor event space. I hope to move in to my unit in the next few months. Once the first floor is complete, I will let you know. We intend to host many events for many years to come!
    Cheers,
    Kaitlyn

    1. Hello Kaitlyn, I've been very interested in the Barnaby House, since I first came across the exquisite and beautiful jewel of a mansion. I'm very interested to know when your next tour will be and I would like to inquire more about the ''event space'' that you'll be having for events.

I'm very interested and I would love to host one of my Recording Jazz Artist client there at the Barnaby House in mid-Summer 2016, if all is finished with the renovations are done by then.

Please send me a email and when I can set up a meeting via phone conference. So, we can talk further in detail. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Congratulations, on having such a Blessed opportunity to be part of bringing such a ''exquisite and phenomenal'' mansion and it's history back to life.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

      Sincerely,

      Janne't Brown

  3. Kaitlyn, how splendid that a new event venue is being formed! Are you working with a company? I can only imagine the gorgeous parties possible on that first floor. I lived in the Barnaby house many years ago. Its magical atmosphere, the colours and texture of every nook and cranny are still so alive in my memories (helped along by hoards of family photos). All the best on your project!
